We urgently need a new team member to join our talented professionals in the growing industry of forensic engineering and project management, consulting on repair and remediation of high-rise structures in the SE Qld areas of Brisbane, Sunshine and Gold Coasts.

SWConsult are a highly regarded and established forensic engineering consultancy working in a niche market servicing clients in SEQld since 2003. We provide consultancy and engineering advice to mainly Strata owners and Body Corporate Managers, regarding structural and remedial issues on existing high rise units or resort buildings.

We pride ourselves that 95% of our work comes from referrals, as we are well known in the area of high rise remediation by both Strata Managers, stake holders and remedial repair companies.

Due to ever increasing demands for our services, we require a Project Manager or/and Structural/Civil Engineer with experience in superintending remedial contractor to work alongside our highly efficient and contented team.

It is desirable, but not mandatory, that applicants for this role are an RPEQ or are able to achieve RPEQ status within the future and have previous construction/building remediation industry experience and a strong work ethic. Emphasis of industry experience is key.

 

The day to day duties of this role are:

  • Site inspections, site photo markups
  • Writing technical/expert reports based on your assessment and findings, reporting on cause(s) of damage, extent of damage and providing recommendations for remediation and repairs
  • Emails, communication, site minutes
  • Site liaison/coordination with remedial contractors/building owners/Body Corporate Managers/architects
  • Liaising with other team members on a daily basis
  • Helping to manage other consultants and projects
  • Ensuring that quality, budget and project time frame milestones are met
  • Administer projects (claims, variations, reports, etc)

We seek interest from candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to formulate Defect Inspection Reports and Technical Specifications 
  • Excellent English grammar and writing skills which articulate the issue in an understandable format for clients to comprehend
  • Previous experience working within the same (or very similar) industry preferred
  • Experience on high rise building refurbishment preferred
  • Accuracy and attention to detail especially in written communications and reports
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of construction contracts with respect to superintendency
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and administer contracts
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Microsoft Word Excel skills
  • Experience with Space Gas/Blue Beam software
  • Familiarity with NCC and BCA regulations
  • Familiarity with construction Australian Standards
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills
  • Drivers licence

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Construction Management and/or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • A Project Manager qualification
  • Strong Written (technical report writing) and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Strong Analytical and Technical Skills
  • Strong People and Organisational Skills
  • Strong Computer Literacy
  • Prior experience in Forensic/Building Assessment preferred, but not essential
  • The ability to work autonomously, be thorough, methodical and with attention to detail
  • Structural Engineering Design and Site experience preferred
  • Ability to travel between Brisbane, Gold and Sunshine Coasts as project dictates
  • Able to work at heights e.g. inspections by swing stage
  • Drafting in AutoCAD and/or similar would be an advantage but not essential
  • Rope access skills an advantage but not essential
  • A sense of humour and family values
